MT5 Expert Advisor not showing, or AutoTrading disabled
By Aiobot · Oct 6, 2026
Put the .ex5 in this terminal’s MQL5/Experts folder (File → Open Data Folder), then Refresh Navigator. An MT4 .ex4 file will not appear in MT5. AutoTrading on the toolbar is the platform switch; Tools → Options → Expert Advisors and the EA Common tab are separate. “Disabled by server” is the broker, not the toolbar. First-time install of Aiobot is a different page.
Why is the Expert Advisor not in Navigator?
- Use File → Open Data Folder on the running terminal — portable installs and extra brokers each have their own
MQL5/Experts. - The file must be
.ex5. An.ex4(MT4) will not list under Expert Advisors in MT5. Aiobot has no MT4 build. Comparison: MT5 versus MT4. - Right-click Expert Advisors → Refresh, or restart MT5.
- If you compiled
.mq5yourself, MetaEditor must finish with zero errors or no.ex5is written.
First copy of aiobot.ex5: Install Aiobot on MetaTrader 5.
Why is AutoTrading grey / “disabled by client”?
The toolbar AutoTrading button (often Ctrl+E) is the platform master switch. Also tick Allow algorithmic trading under Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, and Allow Algo Trading on the EA’s Common tab. A grey hat on the chart means that EA is not allowed to trade even if the toolbar is green.
What does “disabled by server” mean?
The broker has blocked algorithmic trading on that account or symbol. No toolbar click overrides it. Demo versus a live/prop login can differ; see demo versus live license.
The EA is attached but does nothing
Confirm the chart symbol is tradable, AutoTrading is green, the smiley/hat is allowed, and the Experts journal for errors. Guard and Promax still need the EA actually running on a chart. Live, real, and prop accounts need the offline 24-character key; demo does not.
Why does the Experts log say the EA is not running?
- Navigator only lists the file. The EA runs on the chart you dragged it onto. If the panel is missing, drag Aiobot onto that chart again.
- Look at the chart corner. A smile means the EA is allowed to trade. A cross or a sad face means it is blocked or it stopped on an error. Open Toolbox → Experts, not only the Journal.
- “Disabled by client” is the terminal: the toolbar AutoTrading button, Allow algorithmic trading under Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, or Allow Algo Trading on the Common tab. “Disabled by server” is the broker account. One click does not fix the other.
- An investor (read-only) password cannot trade. Applying another chart template can remove the EA; attach it again.
- Guard and Promax show only while that chart’s EA is actually running. A missing key on a live or prop login is a license question, not an AutoTrading switch: demo versus live. Demo does not need the key.
Aiobot is not a signal bot.
