Lot size

By Aiobot · Oct 6, 2026

Lot size is how large a position is, measured in lots. On many forex names 1.00 lot is 100,000 units of the base currency. The working formula is risk amount ÷ (stop distance × pip or point value). Standard, mini, and micro lots are 1.00, 0.10, and 0.01 on typical FX. Gold and indices use other contracts. Promax can compute the lot; it does not choose the trade.

Definition of forex lot size

Lot size is the volume of a position, usually measured in lots. On many forex names 1.00 lot is 100,000 units of the base currency; mini and micro are 0.10 and 0.01.

The working formula is risk amount ÷ (stop distance × pip or point value). Gold and indices use a different contract — read tick size and tick value in the MT5 Specification, not the EUR/USD $10 shortcut.

How-to, gold, 1% risk, and remaining daily loss: how to calculate lot size. Chart helper: Promax. Stop-to-target geometry: risk reward ratio.
